JANET WEEDEN
Janet grew up in Launceston, Tasmania. After studying law at the University of Tasmania, she practised as a solicitor in Launceston for a number of years before moving to Adelaide.
In Adelaide she again worked in private practice before moving to Perth with her husband and children in 1989. After arriving in Perth she worked as a solicitor at the WA Crown Solicitor’s Office (now called the State Solicitor’s Office) for a period before moving to the USA for two years.
On her return to Perth, she resumed working for the State Solicitor’s Office until she retired in 2010.
Over the years her legal work was varied including commercial litigation, family law and inheritance litigation. In WA much of her work involved taxation and charity law.
Janet joined Manna as a kitchen volunteer in 2014. She served on the Manna Board from late 2016 until mid 2017. She rejoined the Board in February 2018.
Apart from Manna, Janet has worked as a volunteer for other organisations including Ronald McDonald House, Bethesda Hospital, Open Gardens West Coast and the Salvation Army.
