OUR STORY

Manna is a compassionate charitable organisation providing hope and dignity to the hungry, the lonely, the disadvantaged and the underprivileged community in Perth, WA. From what began as the simple act of feeding a few homeless people in a park, Manna has grown to become one of the largest providers of meals to the homeless and disadvantaged people in Perth.

Founded in 1996 by Bev and John Lowe, Manna is a mainly volunteer operated charity with over 100 volunteers who give their time on a regular basis to prepare and deliver consistent food services to those in need. By assisting Perth’s most vulnerable, Manna improves their health and sense of wellbeing and provides a better outcome for the community while inspiring positive social change.

We believe that by nourishing the homeless and the vulnerable in a non-judgemental and compassionate way, we give hope, raise awareness about poverty and provide better outcomes for the wider community.

The more contact we have with the community, the more we see that there is a greater need for the services we can offer.

Whilst all of our different programs are helping to meet the physical needs of many people, the greatest gift that Manna gives is a sense of family – love, care, respect – a smile and hug. For many we come in contact with, from the children right through to the seniors, a hug that comes free of any expectations we have found to be worth more than gold.   A relationship is formed and they become part of the Manna family… for many the only family they have right now that can be trusted to look out for their well being.

Sadly, the demand for each and every one of our services continues to grow. On the 18th May 2017, Manna celebrated 21 years of feeding the homeless.
